McAllisters Recovery was founded in 1974 by Frank McAllister he was joined soon after that by his wife Lesley both still provide support within the business today.
The company is still a family run business with Mark Mc Allister as Managing Director assisted by his brother Rob Mc Allister who is the heavy team supervisor.
McAllisters Recovery was the first UK recovery business to establish a web site presence on the Internet. Internal and external e-mail are now used extensively to assist company management. Live digital images from major incidents are transmitted live by sattelite links via laptop computers and PDA’s issued to each of the operators who can send infomarion back to the control room for incident management.
Company equipment is the latest available to the recovery industry, including a specialist motorcycle and ex police volvo estate for rapid response and job assessment. Fully equipped roadside service vehicles range from small roadside vans right up through to large HGV Rotator recovery vehicles with Underlift equipment and heavy duty Lorry Mounted Crane., furthur to this is also a specialist air cushion recovery unit to assist with righting overturned vehicles, this year (March 2009)we have introduced catch bags into the industry to assist with the safe recovery off overturned vehicles.
All recovery employees are highly skilled and trained to assess and carry out all types of specialised recovery conform to all aspects of PAS 43 and to all aspects of the Highways Agency requirements. This training is carried out in close assocation with the Institue of Vehicle Recovery.
The organisation is capable of recovering anything from a motorcycle to the largest vehicle legally allowed on roads at this time.The operation is controlled by a 24-hour Control Centre using the latest computer technology and satellite tracking and management system. The Control Centre is staffed on a shift basis, permitting immediate response to any incident any time of the day or night, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
The operational area is within Surrey and Hampshire. Although this is the main theatre of operation the organisation is prepared to travel nation-wide and onto the continent.
Fire Services have also requested the support of the company in other areas, to travel to incidents involving fuel tankers and other vehicles carrying hazardous loads. Suitably trained operators are available within the company to perform these recovery operations.
The majority of work comes from, Police and local Authories, Highways Agency Transport, Bus and Coach and insurance Companies, Motoring Clubs and Associations, local Dealerships and the general motoring public.
